In November 2018 I (Estelle) suffered a macula off retinal detachment in my right eye. I was devastated to be told that I would never regain the vision in that eye. But after 2 eye surgeries and 4 eye injections under the care of Moorfields eye hospital I have in fact regained some vision.

Vision is so important to all of us and I am so thankful to have been able to benefit from the outstanding dedication and skills of all the Moorfields staff. They are exceptional. I asked a young Bulgarian doctor why she had decided to specialise in ophthalmology and she said: ‘The eye is such a small part of the body but it can make so much difference’. I couldn’t put it better myself.

My husband Norman has been incredibly supportive ever since my diagnosis and we are both taking part in this walk to raise funds to help to bring life changing treatments to people with life changing eye conditions.
