About

We are Team BG (Beckis Gang) a team of 'can do' women headed by our inspiration - Becki. Becki has been a patient at Moorfields Hospital for more than 25 years. She has suffered from debilitating early onset Glaucoma since her mid twenties which has impacted her life but never her determination. Becki expected to lose her sight completely many years ago but because of her drive and the efforts of the people at Moorfields she still has a very little sight in one eye, which, as she always says, is better than no sight at all. Through the years Becki has had countless treatments and operations (too many to list) under the guidance of the fabulous eye experts who have worked tirelessly to retain as much of her sight for as long as possible - she now wants to give something back and she has cajoled her friends to help.

Beckis Gang of 9 includes a complete mix of amazing women - Becki, Ali, Charlotte, Emma, Jan, Jane, Joanna, Laura and Vicky - who have got to know Becki well over the years and have seen first hand what she has been through. We have all more than happily agreed to join Becki to do this tough 14 mile sponsored walk through London in aid of Moorfields Eye Charity. There is no doubt that we all love walking but none of us have walked as many as 14 miles in one stretch for a long long time so this is going to be a challenge. But don't worry we are up for it and it will be good for us:-)

We want to raise as much money as possible for this great cause - we have already achieved our first target of £500 so we have increased it to £1000 and we know we can do even better. This money will help other people like Becki who come to Moorfields Hospital from all over the UK to get the best eye treatments available. We appreciate that you get asked to support so many causes and are grateful for any amount you can donate, small or large - it will spur us on in our training (which we are committed to do) and with the 14 mile walk challenge on the day (which we hope will be sunny and dry).
